Frank Godwin grew up in Calvert County, Maryland, during 1962 through 1969. He spent these years as an adolescent and young teen in a place commonly known as, “The Land of Pleasant Living”. In a place called Cape Leonard and nearby places such as Prince Frederick, Solomons Island and other surrounding areas. Frank tells of his life and story while living there. Within these pages are experiences, as reflected and portrayed by Frank. They are not only told with excitement, but with vibrant colorful descriptive memories of youth with a mixture of embellishment. They are relived and brought back to life through mini-stories. Frank tells of a place and time as he experienced it and as only he could tell it, through his eyes as he saw it many years ago. As the 1960’s were turbulent, unpredictable and historical, Frank gives us a young person’s perspective, of a place that offered not only an innocence, but intertwined with cultural issues of the time it reflects. Those “Times were a Changing” in many different ways, as the author, tells his story. This is a book that is a must to read as it is humorous, entertaining and easy going. Once read, you may desire to go back in time to Calvert County for a brief look at a unique place as told within.

(If I could, I'd give it three and a half stars.) As a native of Calvert County, Maryland, I am naturally interested in this subject. However, it seems that the book should have gone through a few more editing rewrites, for not only the grammar but also the consistency of timelines. I do, also, wish it would have stayed on track to the immediate subject matter at hand on each page. Still, all in all, if one is interested in Calvert County, it's a good primer on life there when it was in all its serene, quiet and natural glory (well before "progress" came in and shoved one off the literal road). My memories are of one lane highways, dusty country roads, and tobacco fields from one end of the county to the other. It was a wonderful community where neighbor helped neighbor, and an awesome time and place to grow up.Product details

Reflections of Calvert eBook Frank Godwin Reviews
Please write more! I moved to Calvert nine years ago and really enjoyed reading about how it was back then.
awesome
Wonderful product and service!
A wonderful walk back in time to memories of Calvert County.
What a wonderful story!! Thank you Frank. I am from Calvert Co.(Solomons Island) and graduated in '65. It is so neat to read about your own home town. Well written and I hope you will continue your reflections. Although I do not recognize your name and can not find you in 2 yearbooks. Since you left Calvert in '69, you must not have graduated from Calvert High School. I too left Calvert County for over 25 yrs. after graduation. But I always knew I would return, and I did. Please continue your story....I enjoyed it more then a dozen books put together.
